Every year as the ground slowly awakens to Spring, the birds emerge with their songs boasting their comeliness, inviting their potential mate with a whistle, and defending their realm with a rant . Here is an ode to these little creatures and the songs they sing to each other…

A Love Song
Following the harsh tones of winter
Comes a song or two
Delicate as fine lace
Dancing
Skipping across the newly hatched foliage
“I’m right here, right here, right here” he says
She responds,
“Will you, will you, will you?”
“Please please, please please, please”
The tender limbs respond to take them in
Hiding their passion from the wind
