“Connection is the energy that is created between people when they feel seen, heard and valued, when they can give and receive without judgment.” ~ Brene Brown
I totally believe this to be true and the key phrase to me is “without judgment”. The first thing that turns most of us off and will shut down the communication lines quicker than anything is to feel like we are being judged for who we are, what we are doing, what we say, believe and want. When we give our children and loved ones the feeling that they are valued, when we listen to them because we care, when we open our hearts to understanding and don’t pass judgment, then we are able to realize a true connection to communication. It’s like a good therapist who sits and listens without a judgmental response while you ramble through your mistakes and bad choices.
The “energy” that is created through true connection is a bond that can offer love, bring healing, deepen relationships, and inspire. So, the next time you engage that person – a love, a child, co-worker, friend or family – give them your attention. Listen to what they are saying without your come-back or response. Don’t judge – accept what they have to say as coming from their experience and their perspective…and see what happens!
We are each a Universe within!
Love and peace,
Sandy
